My thoughts went to what did I know about telephones when I was 8 yrs old :) It was 1990 and till then we resided in Vadapalani, Chennai. To call my grandfather in Thanjavur, my father used to take us to nearby Post office, book a trunk call and wait for half an hour, before operator called us, saying there was a line. We went to Karur on transfer in may 1990 and then some facility called STD got introduced. I still remember my father explaining what were STD codes and individual numbers and I was so fascinated to see this sort of connection, since I need not wait in post offices :)
Two decades, world is turning upside down.
