Still I remember the dawn on 20th Aug 1999...the day I first stepped into my engineering college...Since it was a day come true after hard board exams, me and my classmates, all started calling ourselves Engineers, so on a whole our designation stood Engineer :)
After 4 yrs, I went for my post graduation, so my designation continued as Engineer,... my college didn't promote me to Senior Engg for joining M.Tech :)
Once I joined my first employer, I was designated as MTS (Member of Technical Staff). I quit in a 2.7 yr stint and joined a MNC where I was designated a Senior Software Engg. I was happy, since I got a senior tag. Shockingly I was made a Lead engineer in 7 months time ('08). So in a span of 9 yrs, I became a Lead engg :)
When I again switched company, I was designated R & D Engg...something I felt proud of, since it truly reflected my job duty. With routine work, I really do some R & D here...But destiny had the final say. There was a re-org in my company and everything changed, including my designation...
Beleive me, I am again designated as "Engineer"...No prefix / suffix...
The journey which started on 20/8/1999 as an Engineer completed as an "Engineer", ironically on 20/8/2009 :) :)
11 years on, still an "Engineer" :)
