When I wanted to write a perfect starter, I looked into too many a things, but then my thoughts zeroed-in on my first day of Final year BE (Anjalai Ammal Mahalingam Engineering College, Thanjavur).
We were all on cloud-nine.Walking in was Prof Dr.Jayaraman, HOD of Economics dept. in our college. Though hexa-genarian, he was too admired for his style of teaching.
After a couple of minutes of personal introduction, he told : I will now tell you three great phrases to be remembered through out your life
Number one : "Character is Destiny"(Shakespherean philosophy!)
two "As you sow you reap"
and three "Theethum nandrum pirar thara varaa (Good and bad in your life are results of your own deeds and are not gifted by anyone else :))"
He started explaining some concepts of Karmic theory, birth and death and some rebirth concepts...Though it was too heavy for a 21 yr old lad to hold all at that time...I do really feel it delibrately changed my way of things... should definitely say he sow the seeds of maturity and self-control in my mind.
His final words that day were "Even if 1 in this bunch of 72 has understood to some extent what I have rendered today and changes himself / herself, I shall be the happiest on earth today"
Alas! He resigned within a week and went US to settle down with his son.
Later I did my PG and joined a start-up within a couple of years and to some extent should say am successful till date in career ! Seven years from that day on down the lane, I am satisfied and feel to have grown in many aspects.
Behind all this, I will point to this gentleman: I would proudly say to you Sir - "I had understood and changed and the credit goes to you!"
"Guru Brahma ! Gurur Vishnu ! Guru devo Maheswaraha !" says veda...Guru is Brahma, vishnu and Shiva himself...Prof.Jayaraman is one who showed it to me, even in a very short stint of a week!
Nice beginnning.. Over pazhama irupeenga pola :)
