Aavathum , Azhivathum - Pennale !

I have always heard a old tamil phrase..."Aavathum Pennale...Azhivathum Pennale...", meaning Creation and Destruction of families both depend on Women. I saw a couple today in a volvo bus, from Silk board to office, which proved this saying.

Near HSR signal, when the bus was in full throttle, a couple ran signalling STOP and the driver obliged. The couple were so neatly dressed and looked very pleasant, certainly like a North Indian one. Fortunately a double seat was vacant behind me and they occupied that.

As the bus moved, the guy asked, "Rendu Manyatha". Ho, Tamilians !!! They were too good to be quoted Tamils at first sight I felt...Initially they were talking on some different books which they had read yesterday. Boring topic to overhear, so i started browsing in my new N8. Then slowly the talk turned towards buying a car. Over to them :)

Husband : "See that black scorpio on road. How good it is...thats why I told we can buy that yesterday..."
Wife : "We definitely need happiness of owning a new car...its definitely great...but do we need such a big one...after all we are two...we will buy a small one..."

Husband : "Ok.Lets leave Scorpio...why not try a Swift? Its a great vehicle with a good review and resale price"
Wife : "But you told its 6 lacs on road.Do we need to put so much money? We will buy some simple car."

Husband : "No...when my parents and brother come here, it will not be sufficient to go on a ride. Further both of us are employed well (which I could see that from their clothes) so if we need to go to a place in a decent way we need a bigger one"
Wife : "in that sense why don't we hire a part-time driver and take Mama's (her father-in-law) car? My thought is we don't need to put so much of money..."

All these conversations were very natural and now husband seemed to understand what she meant. He told "yes, we could do that." Again some novel talks continued.

We were in Bellandur signal, and the bus was moving too slow. Again I could hear their conversation, but on a totally different angle.

Husband : "After our talks yesterday, I am thinking of shifting my job."
Wife : "Why ? you said you are interested to start your own business. Then again why are you confusing yourselves?"
husband : "No. I feel I don't have sufficient money to start what I planned for. So either I have to work for one more year or get money from dad!"
Wife: "Enga? I told you how much money I have saved in all these years out of my own earning.Take it completely. Don't ask mama now. My salary is sufficient for both of us to have a decent life. If you are not able to withstand after some time, ask mama for more money. Don't trouble him unnecessarily now"

We had crossed KB Halli signal and I had to get down...couldn't resist my surprise to turn and see her once, but somehow I controlled myself and got down, without seeing the couple again...

A long walk from outside Tech park to my cubicle did have some thoughts in my mind...
1) How blessed the person should have been to get such an accommodative wife!
2) How cultured the lady should have been to support him to buy a car and at the same time control unnecessary expenditure!
3) When she told take all my money completely, I was totally taken aback...how many so-called modern-day wives will tell these words to their husbands?
4) Literally collapsed with her saying, "Don't get money from Father-in-law now.We will live with what I earn and if we need help we will approach him..."

In the world, where ladies and their so called demonish parents / grand parents expect the Groom to come once-for-all to their homes and serve as voluntary servants, just for the single cause of giving their daughter in marriage arrangement, this sounded Excellent!

In vadivel style, "Ippidi oru mangayar kula thilagatha, masatra maanickatha...". God bless this couple.
